Police arrest teacher for raping JSS I student in Benue

LAGOS: Taskforce arrests 71 suspects in massive raid of black spots

A secondary school teacher, Mr, Terseer Maikyo, has been arrested by police in Benue State for allegedly raping a JSS 1 student in Ukum local government area of the state.

The spokesman of the state Police Command, Sewuese Anene, disclosed this in a statement in Makurdi, the state capital.

He said the teacher was arrested on October 8 and would soon be arraigned in court.

Similarly, another man, Nelson Omanka was arrested on October 9 in Obi local government area of the state for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl and had been charged to court.

The police spokesman said two people had been arrested by detectives in connection with the murder of one Fidelis, a student of University of Science and Technology Calabar, Cross-River State.

The suspects were Emmanuel Williams and James Ulem.

The statement read: “Two white and blue coloured axes, one machete, a bottle of concoction, five handsets, and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian-Hemp were recovered from them.”

“Five robbery suspects – Lubem Tseer, Tertsea Ephraim, Peter Yaigh, Joseph Gyan and Aondaana Tarhembe – were apprehended in their hideout in Gboko with a single barrel gun, one cartridge and assorted charms.

“Two Toyota Corolla vehicles and assorted phones were also recovered from five robbery and kidnapping suspects operating along Ugbema/Adikpo road.”
