Police confirm demise of Assistant Commissioner as death of VIPs continues in Kano

The Nigerian Police on Monday night confirmed the death of a Mobile Police Commander (MOPOL 9) and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Atiku Nagodi.

Nagodi was the commander of MOPOL 9, domiciled at Hotoro in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

He died on Monday, adding to the number of Very Important Persons (VIPs) to have died in the state in recent times.

Like many others, who died earlier, there were speculations he might have been killed by the COVID-19 currently ravaging Kano, many Nigerian states and the world at large.

However, the Kano Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the death of Nagodi to newsmen, denied that he died of COVID-19.

According to Haruna, the Assistant Police Commissioner died after a protracted illness and not as a result of the dreaded novel Coronavirus disease.
