Police in Katsina nab 916 suspects, rescue 319 in one year

The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, disclosed on Monday that the command in one year arrested no fewer than 916 criminals, neutralised 40 bandits and rescued 319 kidnapped victims.

Musa, who made the disclosure during an end-of-the-year event held in Katsina, extolled the strides made in safeguarding the lives and property of the people of the state.

The CP said: “I would like to acknowledge the unwavering commitment to crime fighting that our command has demonstrated throughout the year. Our efforts have resulted in a significant reduction in crime rates across the state.

“We have successfully dismantled several notorious criminal networks, recovered substantial amounts of exhibits, rescued several kidnapped victims, as we succeeded in bringing numerous perpetrators to justice.

“These remarkable achievements are a testament to the unrelenting dedication, hard work, and bravery of our officers and men, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our communities remain safe and secure. Our efforts have yielded positive results, and we are proud of the progress we’ve made. This year, we have achieved several notable milestones.

“We have rescued over 319 victims from the clutches of kidnappers and bandits, reuniting them with their families and loved ones.

“We have neutralised 40 bandits, disrupting their operations and making our communities safer.

“We have recovered 2,081 rustled animals, returning them to their rightful owners and boosting the local economy. We have arrested 199 suspected armed robbers, taking them off the streets and making our communities more secure.

“We have also charged 23 major drug dealers to court, disrupting the supply of illicit substances and promoting a safer, healthier society.

“We’ve successfully arrested and prosecuted 32 suspected vandals, ensuring that those who seek to destroy our community’s property are brought to justice.

“Our diligent work has also led to the arrest of 89 suspected motorvehicle thieves and the recovery of over 27 motorvehicles and motorcyles, making our roads safer for everyone.

“Furthermore, we’ve apprehended 573 suspects for various offences, including criminal force, intimidation, and breach of trust, demonstrating our commitment to tackling all forms of crime.

“These improvements have significantly enhanced our operational efficiency, enabling us to respond more effectively to emergencies and better serve our host communities.

“Furthermore, our community policing initiatives have yielded remarkable results, fostering stronger relationships between the command and the public we serve.”
