Police nab 7 suspects after cultists’ shootout in Ife

Men of the Osun State Police Command have arrested no less than seven suspects after the occurrence of violent activities in and around Ife following disturbances by some cultists’.

According to reports, the arrested suspects caused trouble at Agbedegbede/Ompetu and other areas of Ile-Ife which witnessed the halt of business and social activities in the area.

Eyewitnesses said it took the intervention of vigilante groups and security operatives to stop the chaos caused by the cultists’ with some of them arrested during the face-off.

The incident was confirmed by Mrs. Folasade Odoro, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, who also added that normalcy had returned to the town following the fracas.

Mrs. Odoro said; “Upon information received by the A Division in Ile Ife that cult members were on rampage in Ife town, police patrol teams and vigilante men were immediately drafted to the scene and seven suspects were arrested.”
