Police needs N8.7billion to battle Boko Haram – IGP

The Nigeria Police would require about N8.7 billion to effective combat the scourge of the Boko Haram insurgency, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, said on Thursday.

The IGP stated this at an interactive session with members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, stating that the Force needs N8.7billion to effectively checkmate insurgency in the North East of Nigeria.

According to him, there was another N57bn outstanding due to the Nigerian police that was appropriated but has not been released till date.

Speaking on training, Arase stated that all constables presently serving will go on compulsory training to enable them move to the rank of corporal “and only the proposed 10,000 recruits will now spot the uniforms of constables in the police force”
