The River State police command said Friday its operatives had recovered the remains of three abducted students of University of Port Harcourt killed by a kidnap gang in the state.

The command’s Anti-Cultism Unit discovered the decomposed bodies of the students —Joy Adoki, Nelson Nwafor and Fortune Obimba — in a shallow grave in Etoo, Eleme local government area of the state.

The operatives also arrested some members of the gang that abducted the students on April 7.

The command spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, told journalists that the anti-cultism unit led by its commander, Collins Shadar, swung into action after the matter was reported to the unit.

He said: “Following a discreet investigation by the unit led by CSP Shadar, the suspects were arrested and one of them led the police to the place where the undergraduates were killed and buried.”

The command spokesman said one AK 47 rifle, pistol, three magazines and 72 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

One of the suspects, Friday Akpan, told journalists they abducted the victims on the order of one Bright, who told them that the victims betrayed him after money was paid into the account of one of them.

He confessed that they killed and buried the three undergraduates after raping the only lady among them, Joy Adoki. Watch the video below:
