A police officer, Sergeant Matthew Elah, has been arrested for allegedly snatching a motorcycle from its owner at gunpoint.

Elah who was attached to the Department of Operations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Police Command, was arrested by police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Obehie in Abia State over the alleged crime.

He was said to have committed the crime at Umuteke, Akwette in Ukwa West Local Government Area with one Sergeant Isah Alhaji attached to 48 PMF, Ahoada, who at the moment is nowhere to be found.

The suspect, in his confessional statement claimed, “Sergeant Alhaji came to my house at Obehie and asked me accompany him to see somebody, but I saw him with a gun and asked him where he got the gun from and he told me that he got it from armed robbers who were arrested for snatching a motorcycle.

“So, he stopped one motorcyclist, who carried the two of us, but along the way, he asked the man to stop and help him to open one gate while I was holding the gun for him. But he later climbed the bike and zoomed off.”
