Police shoot knife-wielding terrorist dead outside U.K. Parliament

One person has been reported dead after a knife-wielding man was been shot by cops outside the UK Parliament after he stabbed a police officer in terror attacks with no less than 10 pedestrians injured when a car rammed into them.

According to reports the assailant driving a grey 4×4 mowed over 10 pedestrians on Westminster Bridge causing severe injuries to the victims even as two other victims were seen lying within Old Palace Yard, immediately outside Westminster Hall.

Confirming the incident, David Lidington, the leader of the House of Commons had this to say to parliament: “The alleged assailant was shot by armed police; an ambulance is currently attending the scene to remove the causalities.

“There are also reports of further violent incidents in the Palace of Westminster but it would be wrong of me to go into further details before confirmation from the police,” he added.

Rob Smith was running past Westminster when he said he saw the drama unfolded, told Sun Online: ‘‘the grey Hyundai car came across the bridge then across the cycle lane, hit a man on a bike and drive into the wall gates.

“Police ran straight out and shot him. I think there was another person but I can’t be sure.”

He said that officers had been drawing their guns as they ran out.
Another witness reported: “We heard a loud bang, lots of shouting and men running around. Someone rushed through, attacked a policeman.

“He appeared to be carrying a knife or a gun. We then heard gunfire, five or six rounds. The man approaching one of the police officers with a knife,” the witness said.

Meanwhile Reuters photographs show two people bleeding heavily on nearby Westminster Bridge even as police say they are treating the incident as a terror attack.

Significantly, it is worthy of note that this incident coincides with the one year anniversary of the deadly Brussels airport attack which claimed the lives of 32 people and injured 300 others.
