Police unearth shallow graves in premises of 'prophet' who chained 28 persons

A number of shallow graves have been discovered in the home of a prophet, Emmanuel Adeyemi, who was arrested by the police in Lagos for chaining 28 people he claimed to be healing.

The shallow graves, in his Oke-Ira, Ogba home, were where he buried some of his ‘clients’ who die in the ‘healing’ process.

The police attached to Area ‘G’, Ogba, at the weekend, arrested Adeyemi after it was discovered that he chained 15 children and 13 adults in his spiritual cleansing home.

The prophet claimed that he was treating them of mental illness. However, one of them was discovered to be a cancer patient.

Lagos State Police Commissioner, of Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the discovery of the graves.

Owoseni said: “We had another tip-off that there were people he (suspect) buried in his compound and he confirmed it during interrogation.

“Because the area is swampy, the suspect allegedly buried some people in the swamp and about three others in the house.”

However, in a twist, Adeyemi denied being a prophet but a herbalist, insisting that he had never claimed to be a prophet.

He said: “I am a herbalist and not a prophet. One of those chained is my step-son; I chained him and locked him inside the room because I wanted to cure him of stealing. Others are people I was treating of madness.”

On the discovery of shalow graves in his compound, Adeyemi explained that he buried patients who died in the process of healing. He also added that some of them were brought to him from the hospital very sick.

“At times, some would be healed while others won’t make it. They were buried with the consent of their relatives.”

He however denied allegations that he sold human parts, saying he is only a traditional healer.
