Power generation improves from 3,528MW, to 4,102.7MW in February -TCN
There is hope of improved electricity supply in the country following the rise in gas supply, which has seen power generation also improve from 3,528MW, to 4,102.7MW between February 1 and 15.
This was revealed by the daily power statistics from Nigerian Electricity System Operator (SO), a section of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Going by the data, the lowest generation recorded a day before (February 14) stood at 3,556.1MW, with its peak generation at 4211.2MW.
Following this development, TCN on Wednesday wheeled out 4,102.7 megawatts of generated electricity to 11 distribution companies.
While the distribution is still below target, it shows some improvement from what has been generated and distributed since beginning of the year.
It may be noted that on January 22, the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) declared a drop in the power supply to 2,662.20MW due to low water levels and the difficulties in accessing gas by electricity generation companies, GENCOs.
In its website, TCN explained that the 515MW increase in generation as at February 15 was owing to slight increase in gas supply to some power generating companies.

It was learnt that Egbin Power Station, has in the last seven days recorded slight improvement in gas supply. The power station which has the capacity to generate 1,320MW now generates 420MW as against former generation of 160MW.
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, had recently said that vandalisation of gas pipelines had decommissioned power plants and their ability to provide up to 3,000 megawatts of power.
He said that the 3,500MW to 3,800MW which the managers of power sector have been able to keep on the grid over the last few months will be assisted greatly by about 3,000MW “if we have the gas pipelines back. It means we will be able to deliver well over 6,000MW if the gas pipelines are safe.”

Improvement without any impact cannot be considered improvement. The problem with this government is the use of media, they run to the media at any time without carrying out full operations. The MW improved, yet Nigeria is still black out, I see no reason for TCN to involve the media when its job is not yet well done.

The should go and carryout their assignments properly before giving out information to the media, it disgusts me whenever I read positive news and the impacts are not visible. This was the same way Nigerian army said they’ve conquered Boko Haram that’s still bombing people.

That is true. Our power supply has improved a little and it means baba buhari is working hard to change this country for the best

Aboki, shut up. What power is improving except for the power of corruption and insurgency. Funnily the north are the most affected when it comes to power supply. Stop being sentimental in giving verdicts. Buhari has done nothing. Power supply during Jonathan’s regime was far better than now.

If this administration will only give us stable electricity, we will be happy to do the rest; because at the moment, we are doing everything!

You are on point. With stable electricity, we can have all what it takes to better the economy. Any government that can promise us stable power supply is worth voted for.
