Premier League ends La Liga’s dominance of FIFPro World11 nominations

The English Premier League has taken the top spot ahead of the Spanish La Liga for the first time in 10years in the number of players nominated for the Fifpro men’s World11 nominations.

A 55-man list was announced by world football governing body, FIFA on Thursday ahead of the Best FIFA Awards later this month.

More than 23,000 professional players around the world were asked to choose their best team by Fifpro, the players’ union, based on performances between July 2018 and July 2019.

A total of 21 players plying their trade in England’s top-flight made the list, while 20 players from Spanish La Liga were nominated.

The final team, made up of a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, will be revealed at the Best Fifa Football Awards in Milan on September 23.
