Elected local government officials in Zamfara State have been warned of coming challenges especially in the area of security.
Giving this warning at the swearing in of the officials, the State governor, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar said the recent security challenges being faced in the state was fast becoming unbearable.
The ceremony which took place at the government house Gusau was to inaugurate the newly elected 14 local government chairmen and newly appointed 14 permanent secretaries.
While congratulating them on their election, the governor said they had more work to do than ever in securing the live and property of residents of the state considering the recent kidnapping and killing reported across the state on daily basis.
He tasked them to work within the purview of the Nigerian constitution as local government officials are more closer to the people being the third tire of government.
Yari whose tenure lapses on May 29 urged the Council Chairmen to extend the same support given to him to the newly elected governor of the state, Alhaji Muktar Idris.
