Presidency: There is no basis for Buhari to resign

Published

on

The presidency Wednesday restated that there was no basis for President Muhammadu Buhari, to resign from office, saying such calls are unlawful.

Following Buhari’s absence from the country on medical vacation for over 90 days, popular musician, Charlie Boy and his group, ‘Our-Mumu-Don-Do,’ have since on Monday been embarking on a peaceful protest in Abuja, demanding his return from London or resign from office.

However, speaking on ARISE Television, a THISDAY Newspapers sister broadcast network, the Senior Special Assistant to president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Buhari has not violated any law and therefore there was no basis for the calls for his resignation.

Nigeria’s president has been away for over 90 days without stepping in his country and these irresponsible presidency wants us to keep calm and pretend like everything is ok, we are not mumus, resignation of the president is the only right thing to do or he should resume office

If you really mean business and want Buhari to truly resign, you will go and protest in London. If not, kindly remain silent.

Only in Nigeria can this happen, no other part of the world will try this nonsense of keeping president outside the four corners of the country and expect the citizens not to call for his resignation. Buhari is tired, he needs to rest at home

Nigerians should better forget buhari issue and pray for God’s divine intervention in Nigeria, things are going bad. Kidnappers using canal as place of rituals, anambra killing in the church are issues and not buhari’s 93 days absence
