Probe into Trump’s travel ban likely, Washington attorney general says

I didn’t obstruct FBI's probe into alleged Russian meddling, Trump says

A probe to uncover what truly motivated” President Donald Trump‘s executive order on immigration, which witnessed the banning of seven Muslim dominated countries from entering America is likely, so says Washington state’s attorney general.

The likely probe which promises to uncover Trump’s motive behind the executive order could prompt a rare public examination of how a U.S. president makes national security decisions.

Last week, Trump suffered another legal setback when a US appeals court refused to reinstate a ban on travellers from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

The unanimous decision was reached by a panel of three judges from the San Francisco-based 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals who all declined to block a lower-court ruling that suspended the ban and allowed previously barred travellers to enter the US.

On Thursday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit left the judge’s ruling in place without deciding the ultimate merits of either side’s arguments. In its decision, the 9th Circuit cited a previous case establishing that “circumstantial evidence of intent, including … statements by decision makers, may be considered in evaluating whether a governmental action was motivated by a discriminatory purpose.”

However, unperturbed US President Donald Trump is now considering signing a new executive order banning citizens of certain countries from travelling to the United States after his initial attempt was blocked.

The businessman turned politician revealed the move when he announced the possibility of a “brand new order” that could be issued as soon as Monday or Tuesday, in a surprise talk with reporters aboard Air Force One late on Friday, as he and the Japanese premier headed to his estate in Florida for the weekend.
