Prof Nwabueze condemns Nnamdi Kanu’s call for election boycott, says it’s suicidal

Elder statesman, Professor Ben Nwabueze, has condemned the call by the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, for Ndigbo to boycott the 2019 general elections.

Nwabueze, a foremost Nigerian constitutional lawyer, described the call as a suicidal mistake and said that he was totally opposed to it.

“My stand on the boycott of election is that it is a suicidal mistake. For this reason I am totally opposed to it, and have repeatedly advised against it,” Nwabueze stated in a terse statement he signed and made available to Ripples Nigeria on Monday.

Nnamdi Kanu who recently resurfaced after disappearing since Nigerian soldiers allegedly invaded his home in Abia State on September 14, 2017, had made the call on Sunday.
