Prophet who predicted Mugabe's death dragged to court

Three days after his arrest, Prophet Patrick Mugadza of Kariba town was dragged to court on Wednesday.

The clergyman was arrested after he predicted that 92-year-old President Robert Mugabe, was not going to see the end of this year.

During court proceedings, prosecutors could not formally lay charges of criminal nuisance on Mugadza because his lawyers objected to an additional charge of “offences to persons of particular religion or race.”

Pastor Mugadza is expected to return to court on Thursday as it is a common occurrence for Zimbabwean police to arrest political activists who insult or undermine Mugabe’s office, but most of the cases have been dismissed by the courts.

Pastor Mugadza was arrested in Harare at a local magistrate’s court where he had gone to attend a hearing for a different issue.
