A number of Arewa youths, who are members of Arewa Youth Assembly, staged a protest in Abuja on Wednesday, calling on security agencies to arrest Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).’

The youths were accompanied by policemen on horses along the Shehu Shagari Way as they protested.

The group marched from Unity Fountain, Maitama, through the Federal Secretariat Complex to the entrance of Three Arms Zone.

They carried placards mostly centred around Nigeria’s unity and Nnamdi Kanu.

The placards read, “The unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable;” and “Nnamdi Kanu is undermining the sovereignty of Nigeria.”

The last stop of the group was at the junction of the Presidential Villa, where they sang for some minutes before dispersing.

The police’ response to this protest was in sharp contrast to the ‘Resume or Resign’ protest which has been met by aggressive pushback, as the protests have been forcefully dispersed through teargassing.
