Protests erupts in France after 22-yr-old is raped, brutalised by police

Hundreds of protesters have stormed the northern Paris suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois to demand justice for the alleged rape and brutalisation of a victim, named as Theo.

Reports say the 22-year-old black youth worker was arrested in France and allegedly sodomised with a baton, leading to accusations of police brutality and street protests calling for justice.

The victim suffered severe anal injuries which required surgery; he also suffered injuries to the head and face, leading a doctor to declare him unfit to work for 60 days reports say.

Bruno Le Roux, the French Interior Minister informed that all four officers involved in the abuse had been suspended during the investigation, adding that exemplary conduct and respect “must guide the behaviour of security forces at all times”.

A day earlier, one officer in the case was charged with rape, while three others were charged with assault over the arrest on Thursday in the northern suburb.
