PSG back to winning ways with Lille victory

Published

After last weekend’s defeat to Stasbourg, French Ligue 1 leaders Paris St-Germain returned to winning ways as they beat Lille on Saturday.

Unai Emery’s side had lost two straight games in the past one week as they were also beaten by Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Angel Di Maria headed in Kylian Mbappe’s cross to put the home side ahead on 28 minutes, and also set up Javier Pastore early in the second half for a second, before Anwar el Ghazi pulled one back for the visitors.

Mbappe, who had earlier hit the post, then scored in injury time to bring the final score to 3-1.

The win takes PSG 12 points clear at the top, as second, third and fourth placed teams, Olympique Lyon, champions Monaco and Marseille, respectively, would hope to cut down the gap later this weekend.

Monaco play Troyes later on Saturday, while Lyon face Amiens and Marseille host Saint-Etienne both on Sunday.
