Quadri happy to qualify for ITTF World Cup

Table tennis star Aruna Quadri defeated Egypt’s Omar Assar in the final of the 2017 ITTF Africa Cup to qualify for the World Cup in France.

The Nigerian edged his continental foe 4-3 on Monday in Morocco to book a ticket to France, where he will represent Africa.

The 28 year old who played without a coach fought back from two sets to record th remarkable victory.

“I am so happy and I think luck was in my favour and I look forward to play in the ITTF World Cup later this year in France,” the Jura Morez player said during his post-match chat.

Meanwhile in the women’s singles category, defending champions, Funke Oshonaike, lost to the championship first seed Dina Meshref of Egypt in four straight sets in the final.

Hence, Aruna Quadri and Dina Meshref will represent Africa when the World Cup begins later in the year.
