Radio Biafra makes comeback

In spite of federal government’s efforts at ending its activities, the pirate station, Radio Biafra, has again resumed transmission.

It was observed that the station was on air for a few hours on Saturday. It was transmitting on the same 104.7 FM band, from which it transmitted before it went off air.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had on July 14 announced that it jammed the transmission signals of the radio station, which was operating illegally from an unknown location.

But the station yesterday invited listeners to call in from various parts of the South-East, and from outside the country.

The broadcast addressed the most current issues in the country, an indication that the channel was still on air.

However, a group, Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF) over the weekend urged the Federal Government to urgently block the frequency signals of the radio station.

The President of the forum, Mr Augustine Chukwudum who made the appeal while speaking with newsmen at Onitsha in Anambra State, noted that the “transmission of hate messages by one Nnamdi Kanu, who operates the radio, was unacceptable to peace loving Nigerians.

“The Federal Government should do all it can to block the signal of Radio Biafra once and for all”,  he said
