RAMADAN: Sokoto to spend N380m in creating feeding centres

SOKOTO: Stop relocating to Niger Republic, Tambuwal pleads with fleeing residents

The Sokoto state government has budgeted N380 million to create feeding centres across the state during the 2019 Ramadan fasting period.

The state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, disclosed this on Sunday during the flag off of distribution of the Sokoto State 2019 Ramadan package charity for the poor at the auditorium of Sultan Muhammad Maccido institute for Quran and General Studies Sokoto.

He said an increase was approved from the previous N300 million for the programme in order to create additional feeding centres in the state.

Represented by the state Deputy Governor, Manir Mohammed Dan-Iya, the governor said over N200 million would be spent for the purchase of Ramadan and Sallah packages under the state zakkat and endowment commission and N175 million on Ramadan package for distribution to Imams, deputy Imams and other religious leaders under the state ministry for religious affairs.
