Ras Kimono committed to mother earth in Delta amid wailing, eulogies
Late reggae icon, Ras Kimono was finally laid to rest amid tears, wailing and eulogies at his hometown, Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Among those who paid their last respect to Augustine Onwubuya popularly known as Ras Kimono were members of the Rastas Fraternity including the national grand patron for Nigeria, Ras Edu Dickson.
Others who were present at the burial ceremony include Mr Karo Ilolo, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State who represented Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Also present were; Mrs. Ameachi Mrakpor of the House of Representatives, Mr. Emeka Nwaobi of the State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Bazim Chinye and veteran Nollywood Producer, Opa Williams.

The graveside citation was delivered by Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, COSON, Mr Tony Okoroji who said; “Kimono was unbeatable, unpiratable and wonderful. He was a Nigerian like no other. We don’t mourn him, we celebrate him. Kimono never drank, never smoked and never ate meat yet he was great in his chosen field.
“As we say goodbye to this lion, let us remember that he had no father, no mother, no brother and no sister but see the way the world has honoured him. We should unite to support the daughters he left behind.”
Other reggae exponents who witnessed the body of Ras Kimono who was lowered in a coloured casket on Saturday at exactly 3:20pm include; Orits Wiliki, Daddy Showky, Buchi, Yellow Man, Righteous Man, Candy Sea and Bright Chimezie among others.
