President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigeria’s past and present leaders to take a cue from the lifestyles of former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; and the former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan.

The President who spoke on Saturday at the fifth presidential prayer breakfast held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the two former leaders had been consistent in attending programmes inside the Villa throughout the tenure of his administration.

Describing their gesture as patriotic, Jonathan said if all leaders emulate them, the country would be a better place for all.

It is no secret that some former heads of state do not attend state events, or meetings within Aso Rock.

He thanked Nigerians for the opportunity given him to serve in various capacities in the last 16 years and promised to continue to do his best for the country.
