Anxious residents of Osun State have been told to remain calm and law-abiding as Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress is still in charge of the state.

The comments were made on Monday by Mr Najeem Salaam, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly.

According to Salaam, who was speaking during the state assembly’s plenary session, “Oyetola is still the governor of the state and still in charge of the state’s administration.”

Salaam added that the APC will surely approach the appellate courts to challenge the judgment of the tribunal.

He said; “Oyetola is still in charge and he remains the governor of Osun State; APC is still the party in control of the state.

“Announcements had been made on radio and television stations for people of the state to remain calm with regard to the tribunal’s judgment.

“I want to appeal to residents to remain law-abiding and give support to the government.

“I also want to warn hoodlums not to use the judgment to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the state.

“I am using this medium to call on security agents to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the state,” Salaam said.

Recall that ousted Oyetola noted yesterday that he will remain in office pending the outcome of his appeal challenging last Friday’s judgment of the election petition tribunal.

Governor Oyetola who made the comments while inspecting some on-going road and drainage projects in the state capital, Osogbo, also noted that his faith in the judiciary remains unshaken despite of the nullification of his election.
