Rerun Election: You dare not repeat PDP convention saga, Wike tells APC

Use loots recovered by EFCC for 2019 elections, Gov Wike advises
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has warned against the use of security agencies to disrupt the coming rerun election in the state as was the case of the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in the state.
He said that the security agencies should not think that the illegal invasion of Sharks Stadium and other government property was a dress rehearsal for the rigging of the forthcoming rerun elections in the state.
INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Operations in INEC,  Amina Zakari, at a meeting with candidates and political party chairmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday, had announced that the suspended re-run elections in the state may be conducted by mid October.
But Wike warned the All Progressives Congress (APC), against using the security agencies to rig election in the state, saying that any such move will be resisted by the people of Rivers.
“I hope what you did that day is not what you plan to do during the rerun elections. We allowed it because we had visitors from outside. Nobody will allow you (APC), rig elections in this state,” Wike said.
The governor also said that he was going to sue the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), for sealing up Sharks Stadium the initial venue of the PDP national convention.
The governor said that the state government will seek judicial interpretation if the Federal Government was right to take laws into their hands.
Wike disclosed this when he spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt while inaugurating the Peace and Security Committee of the state on Friday.
He charged members of the Peace and Security Committee to work towards promoting security of lives and property within the ambit of the law.
