#ResumeOrResign Day 4: Pro Buhari group storms Abuja to counter Charly Boy & co

Protests over ailing President Muhammadu Buhari’s continued stay in London is becoming more dramatic as it continues to grow in different directions.

On Thursday, marking the fourth day of the protests, another group, Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative, on Thursday stormed Abuja to counter #ResumeOrResign protest, which began four days ago.

A group, Concerned Nigerians, have in the last four days engaged in a sit-out protest demanding that Buhari, either returns to Nigeria and resume his duties as president, or resign to allow the country move forward.

The protest, which takes place on daily basis at the Unity Fountain in Abuja is convened by Deji Adeyanju and led by popular entertainer, Charles Oputa also known as Charly Boy.

Celebrated Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke and one of the conveners of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), Aisha Yesufu, on Wednesday joined the group.

The group was brutalised by the police on the second day of the protest with one person allegedly injured and hospitalized while Charly Boy reportedly collapsed as they were sprayed with teargas and water.

As the group’s protest hit day four, another group, Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative in a counter protest besieged Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, to demand that President Buhari be left alone.

The pro Buhari group were seen with banners bearing inscriptions such as, ‘Our president is recuperating, Nigeria is moving forward’, ‘the system is working, no cause for alarm”.

President Buhari on May 7 traveled back to London for a follow-up treatment and has remained there for 94 days now with no news of a possible date for his return.

Buhari had earlier before the May 7 return to the United Kingdom, spent 49 days in London for medical treatment. The ailment he is suffering from has remained a top secret.
