Retaliate against Trump’s Muslim ban, Iraqi parliament tells govt.

The executive order signed by newly sworn-in American President Donald Trump closing US borders to Muslim refugees while also suspending the US Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days has elicited retaliation from the Iraqi parliament which has voted to pay American’s in their own coin.

The Iraqi parliament voted on Monday asking its government to ‘retaliate’ against Trump’s ban on travel to the United States from Iraq and six other Muslim-majority countries, a parliamentary media official revealed.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has not yet reacted to the ban though a government official in Baghdad earlier said Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari plans to meet the U.S. ambassador on Monday or Tuesday to express dismay at Trump’s decision.

The first Muslim arrivals to the US were detained at airports with some of them already aboard their flights when Trump announced his executive order closing America’s borders to refugees while also suspending the US Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days.

Aside Iraq, Trump also created a ban denying citizens of Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia – countries with a majority of Muslims – entry to the USA for 90 days.
