El-Rufai’s belated push for our arrest proves he’s ‘enemy of the country’- Arewa youths

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, (AYCF), on Tuesday, demanded the immediate release of the Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Security, (DSS).

The national President of the (AYCF), Alhaji Shettima Yerima, while speaking with our correspondent on Tuesday said the call for revolution by Sowore was not the solution to the looming challenges the country is currently facing.

According to him, a better option such as dialogue would have been explored in addressing challenges in the country.

He, however, said the Federal government should consider releasing Sowore to avoid creating unnecessary attention from the international community.

His words: I have spoken with some journalists on this and I believe repeating it is not bad. In as much I am not supporting Sowore on the call for revolution; I will advise the Federal Government to release him in order to avoid creating unnecessary attention from the international community.

“We all know that the current government has not done well; revolution is not the solution to the situation. Instead, let us call for dialogue to put things right in the country. Nigeria needs a better government, no doubt about that, drumming war at this level will only worsen things. This is our nation; we do not have another one. So, we must help ourselves in all we do.”

Recall that the DSS, had picked up Sowore over the weekend for calling for a revolution.

Despite his arrest and detention by the DSS, the protest still took place in some parts of the country.
