Police kill four Kidnappers in Edo ambush

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Abubakar, has warned residents of the state against participating in the #RevolutionNow protest, stating that it will crush any attempt by any persons or group to hold the rally.

According to Danmallam, the #RevolutionNow protest is an invitation to anarchy.

Speaking to newsmen in his office, the Edo police boss said the police would use maximum force to resist anybody that want to tamper with the peace in the state.

Speaking on the detention of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the protest, Danmallam said what Sowore could not get through the ballot box, he wants to achieve through the backdoor.

Danmallam said some persons were not happy that the country was overcoming security challenges just as it overcame economy recession.

According to him, “Do they know the meaning of revolution? Do they think that they can remove any democratically elected government? The man was a presidential candidate, what he couldn’t get through the ballot, he wants to get through the back door.

“For somebody to say he is going to hold revolution in this country, we cannot fold our hands and allow it happen because it is an invitation to anarchy. It is treasonable offence.

“They are trying to tamper with the relative peace we are enjoying in Nigeria. Nigeria is trying to come out of security challenges and some people are not happy. Government has made concerted effort to checkmate security challenges. They are not happy.

“They are coming up with another criminal approach to cause confusion and chaos. Here in Edo, we will not allow body or group of people to tamper with the peace. Any attempt by anybody to tamper with the peace of the State will be resisted with maximum force.”

Meanwhile, it was observed that there was no #Revolutionnow protest in Benin City, Edo State capital and other towns in Edo State. Residents in the state were going about their daily activities.
