Rio: Oduduru finishes 7th as Brume picks 5th position

Nigeria’s woeful performance at the ongoing Rio Olympics in Brazil continued early Thursday morning with the exit of the duo of Divine Oduduru and Ese Brume from their respective athletics events.
After a great display which saw him finishing second behind Jamaica star Usain Bolt during the 200m heat, Oduduru could not gather the speed and pace which took him to the semifinals by clocking 20.34sec to emerge in 7th position.
Similarly, Brume could only muster a leap of 6.81m long jump as the African junior record holder finished a distant fifth with Tianna Bartoletta of the United State winning the women’s long jump after jumping 7.17m.
