Angry rioters stormed the streets of Cairo after a policeman shot two people, killing one of them on Tuesday following an argument over the price of a cup of tea- an incident which is the latest in a series of brazen police brutality.
A video sent to Reuters by an eyewitness shows a man in his pool of blood surrounded by a group of angry onlookers but it was not immediately clear if the victim was dead or alive.
According to security sources, one man was killed and another seriously wounded in the incident which took place in the eastern Cairo suburb of Rehab. The wounded man was taken to hospital.
Visuals on social media also showed one of the onlookers holding up a bullet casing accusing the police of killing “poor” Egyptians. A crowd later smashed a police vehicle in the area.
