The 2019 general elections have come and gone. But the reverberations remain. The elections were controversial in many ways. Except for some instances where the winners and losers affirmed the credibility of the process, the elections largely witnessed condemnation by participants and observers alike.
Vote buying, security interference, clashes of supporters, rigging, voter suppression and alteration of results were some of the issues that characterised the polls. But it was not all doom and gloom. The process in some areas was peaceful and largely credible, as attested to by political parties, INEC and observers.
The elections have generated heated debates across the country, with the positions of the leading contenders, the electoral body and the independent observers dominating the conversations.
