Ripples Nigeria report wins top prize at 2019 PwC Media Excellence Awards
An investigative report published by Ripples Nigeria has been picked as winner in the 2019 PwC Media Excellence Awards.
Kelechukwu Iruoma beat Chinedu Asadu of TheCable and Gbenga Ogundare to emerge winner in the Tax reporting category, as announced at the award ceremony held in Lagos on Friday night.

An entry by Bayo Akinloye, the editor of Sahara Reporters won the SME category of the awards. His report explained how slow internet speed undermines investments and developments in Nigeria.
Another report, also published on Ripples Nigeria by Patrick Egwu; NIGERIA’S LOCAL SHOE INDUSTRY: A goldmine waiting to be exploited, also made the list of finalists for the SME category of the awards.
A report by Premium Times’ Oladeinde Olawoyin, won the Capital Markets Reporting category. His report analysed what Islamic finance products can do to Nigeria’s capital market, and infrastructural growth.

The winners were presented with plaques and cash prizes of N500,000 each.
Other journalists who made the shortlist, were Teliat Sule and Oluseyi Awojulugbe in the Capital Market Reporting category; Ayoade Olatokewa
Iruoma’s report published in Ripples Nigeria which fetched the top prize in the tax category was funded by the International Center for Investigative Reporting, ICIR.
