Ripples Nigeria reporter, 44 others shortlisted for DPI Fellowship
At least 45 journalists from news media organisations in four African countries have been selected as Fellows for the Digital Public Infrastructure Journalism Programme.
The fellowship, which is in its second phase is organised by the Media Foundation for West Africa and Co-Develop.
The journalists were selected from media organisationns in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Togo.
The participating newsrooms in Nigeria include Ripples Nigeria, Daily Trust, The Nation Newspaper, Premium Times, and News Agency of Nigeria, among others.
According to a statement by the organiser, the fellowship aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the selected journalists in producing impactful stories on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPGs) in the four project countries (…) and across the West Africa region.
The statement stressed that the DPI Journalism Fellowship will increasing public awareness and access to information on Digital Public Goods (DPGs).

It read: “The fellowship also seeks to promote and ensure that the uptake and adoption of DPI in West Africa is inclusive, safe and equitable.”
The fellowship is expected to run for six months, with the first three months dedicated to intensive training sessions and the last three months for reporting, storytelling and other post-training activities.
The 45 fellows, who were selected from a pool of 291 applications will receive a monthly stipend of $250 for the three-month training period while their respective media houses will be supported with $1,000. Fellows will also have access to reporting grants to tell significant stories on DPI and DPG.
