RIVERS CRISIS: He’s on the run already, lawmaker, Ugochinyere, mocks Wike
Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, the opposition lawmakers’ coalition spokesperson in the House of Representatives, has mocked former Rivers State governor and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike following the political crisis currently rocking the state in recent months.
The lawmaker in a post on X, claimed Wike was already on the run following the River’s State government’s setting up of a panel to look into the burning of three local government secretariats on Monday.
“HE IS ON THE RUN ALREADY. THE PANEL CONSTITUTED TO LOOK INTO THE TREASONABLE ACT OF BURNING OF RIVERS LGA HQRS HAVE NOT EVEN STARTED SITTING BUT WIKE IS ALREADY RUNNING TO THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT IN SEARCH OF EXPARTE ORDER TO STOP THE PANEL THAT IS MANDATED TO FIND THE CRIMINALS WHO COMMITTED THOSE EVIL ACTS FROM SITTING. IS WIKE HIDING SOMETHING?”
Ugochinyere who also reacted to Wike’s interview on Channels Television on Tuesday night where he accused Governor Sim Fubara of being behind the violence that erupted after the local government elections conducted last Saturday, said Wike should be held responsible for the crisis for disobeying court orders stopping the elections.
The lawmaker, in a statement late Tuesday, called on the federal government and relevant security agencies to ensure that Wike and his supporters face justice over alleged burning of local government headquarters in Rivers State.

“All these explanations on TV by Nyesom Wike, I don’t understand why he’s crying, so the only thing I will advise is that there’s no way he will escape the involvement of his supporters which I’m beginning to believe from his television comments that he’s fully aware, that he might be part of it.
“I commend the state government for setting up a judicial panel of enquiry. It doesn’t matter who you are, the panel must sit. If indeed he’s involved in this treasonable act to destroy another arm of government and burn it to the ground, then he should be charged, prosecuted.
“What are we pampering? A whole state, a whole government will be your own? Because you came from where? What is it? I want to thank the state government for setting up a judicial panel of inquiry.
“All those that are involved, the office of the Attorney General should prosecute them. If they burn a government at the local level, they will burn state, federal and democracy.
“Government needs to deal with it decisively because the consequences will be a lot, hiding behind being a supporter of the president to do the unthinkable,” he said.
