Rivers edge Nasarawa as Nigerian League resumes

As the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) kicked off on Saturday, Rivers United edged past visiting Nasarawa United 1-0 in Portharcourt despite playing with 10 men.

Rivers played with a man down after Festus Austin was sent off in the 31st minute for a deliberate handball, before Ayo Saka scored the only goal of the game when he volleyed in a left-footed strike in the 39th minute to give Rivers United the win.

The win took Rivers United from 13th to 11th on the log with 27 points, as the visitors remain on ninth despite the defeat.
