Rivers LG chairman appoints 130 special assistants
The Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, on Thursday announced the appointment of 130 special assistants to help drive his administration.
Ihunwo made the announcement in a post on his verified X handle.
He stated that the appointees must serve diligently.
Some of the appointees are Helen Nyekwere, Josephine Wogu, Daisy Worgu, Wagwu Hilda, Ogbonna Stella, Goodness Ogbonna, and Grace Amadi.
Ihunwo’s appointments have generated a lot of noise across the nation with many questioning the rationale for appointing such a number of aides.

However, Ihunwo appears not to be alone in the business of appointing a high number of aides.
Recall that a few days ago, the chairman of Nasarawa LGA in Kano State, Yusuf Imam, popularly known as ‘Ogan Boye’, approved the appointments of 60 aides to serve in various capacities in the LGA.
The approval letter signed by the Local Government Secretary, Ado Muhd Hotoro, said the appointments were part of the chairman’s efforts to promote and develop the local government.
