Rivers on knife’s edge as PANDEF seeks end to Wike, Fubara feud
The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has issued a clarion call to all parties involved in the Rivers State crisis to rally behind the peace and reconciliation efforts led by the Attah committee.
This five-member panel, established by PANDEF, was tasked with addressing regional conflicts, including the simmering dispute between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.
In a statement signed on Thursday by PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Dr. Obiuwevbi Christopher Ominimini, the forum emphasized the urgent need for restraint and cooperation.

“PANDEF calls on all parties to exercise restraint and embrace the peace and reconciliation committee to bring a lasting solution that will foster development in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region,” the statement read.
The recent court ruling, which affects the allocation of funds to the Rivers State government, has sparked concerns about potential hardship for the people of Rivers State.
PANDEF warns that this crisis could have far-reaching consequences, affecting not just those directly involved but also the broader population.
As Chief Dr. Ominimini aptly puts it, “crisis anywhere is crisis everywhere.” PANDEF’s appeal highlights the potential for broader regional stability if parties commit to peaceful resolution.
By embracing constructive dialogue and cooperation, stakeholders can pave the way for sustained growth and progress in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region.
