RIVERS RERUN: Battle is over as PDP wins 2 senatorial seats, APC 1

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), almost 48 hours after elections in some federal and state constituencies rerun election in Rivers State were concluded, has announced most of the results of the election.

Hopefully this brings to an end months of violence and killings that had been associated with the RERUN poll, which was postponed several times by INEC due to fear of violence.

While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged winner of two senatorial seat the All Progressives Congress (APC) won one seat.

PDP’s Osinachukwu Ideozu, won the Rivers West senatorial district after polling 107,166 votes against APC’s Otelemaba Amachree who garnered 48,898 votes.

For Rivers South East senatorial district, Magnus Abe of the APC was returned winner with a total of 125,938 votes to defeat Olaka Nwogu of the PDP, who garnered. 25,394 votes,
The announcement of Sekibo as winner at the Collation Centre by the Returning Officer, Prof. Orji Okumenkama was very dramatic.

As the result was about to be announced, some security operatives made up of soldiers and policemen in SARS uniform stormed the Port Harcourt City Hall Collation Centre and tried to disrupt the process.

When more people including Governor Nyesom Wike stormed the place, the security operatives started shooting sporadically into the air to scare people and made their exit.

At least PDP can rest and stop making noise, since they’ve outshone APC in the rerun

Rivers state should be preparing to say good bye to PDP government come next election as APC has already made a feat in their concluded rerun election. I never imagine APC can even win one senatorial district talk more of house of reps.

I just want to state this emphatically that APC didn’t win any election in Rivers state. For magnus Abe who won , people voted his personality and not his party . if magnus had contested under PDP or any other, he would have still won. So let’s not be deceived . Rivers people love magnus Abe and other people who won under APC.
