The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has come down hard on President Muhammadu Buhari and the INEC over the conduct of the Rivers rerun polls.

The governor in a series of tweets last night lamented that violence and killings that trailed the rerun elections that held in Rivers State on Saturday, noting that Buhari has destroyed the legacy of free, fair and transparent elections bequeathed on Nigeria by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He also alleged that INEC produced election result sheets with PDP omitted, and that such situations portend danger for the nation’s democracy.

There were also reports that at least seven people were killed in the exercise in Abalama in Asari Toru Local Government Area, Eleme in Eleme LGA, Nonwa in Tai LGA and Ogboloko in Abua/Odual LGA.

The police said 12 persons were arrested for various offences, including eight persons in Khana LGA of the state for alleged electoral violence and for parading themselves as policemen.

One of the suspects was alleged to be an aide to Governor Nyesome Wike.
