With this INEC 2019 may be a dream, Wike warns
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Rivers South East, Senator Magnus Abbe, of desperation over the forthcoming rerun elections in the state.
Wike was reacting to allegations by Abbe that the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in the state, Aniedi Ikoiwak, was a contractor at the Federal Ministry of Education while the governor was Minister.
Abbe also accused the REC of manipulating results in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the stalemated rerun elections in the state in order to repay favours done him by Wike.
Reacting, through the state commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George, Governor Wike insisted that the allegations were tissues of lies and a sign of desperation.
He said: “Faced with his imminent defeat in the forthcoming legislative rerun polls in Rivers State, Senator Abe has started a campaign of calumny and vilification against Governor Wike and INEC officials in Rivers State.
Wike, who said the allegation was a mere fabrication by the former Senator, denied having any business relationship with any INEC official, either present or past.
