RIVERS RERUN: Gov Wike leads protests to Police headquarters

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Thursday led residents of the state in their thousands in protest of alleged brutality and killings allegedly perpetrated by the police and other security agencies during last Saturday’s rerun elections in the state.

The protesters, who were peaceful in their conduct started their march from the Government House, Port Harcourt and moved through Azikiwe Street and Bank Road before ending up at the Rivers State Police Command headquarters on Moscow Road.

Others who joined Wike in the protest were Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Speaker Dabo Adams, a former Minister of Transport Abiye Sekibo, a former United Bank for Africa (UBA) Chairman Ferdinand Alabrabra, a former Deputy Governor Tele Ikuru and Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Felix Obuah.

Others included commissioners, state legislators, caretaker committee chairmen, women and youths.
