The Rivers State rerun elections has turned bloody, as an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been shot dead. This is even as the state governor, Nyesom Wike, carpeted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, saying the electoral umpire is not prepared for the election.

The party agent, Mr Tambari Ntoti, was reportedly shot in the course of the ongoing rerun election.

Until his death, Ntoti was representing Nonwa Ward 3 in Tai Local Government Area.

While confirming his death, the PDP, through its Twitter handle, alleged that Ntoti was killed by supporters of the All Progressives Congress, PDP.

In a related development, a group of voters suspected to be loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Friday, protested what they alleged to be the distribution of fake result sheets in Tai, Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas of the state, with the state governor expressing concern over the election.

The protesters, who closed the gate of the the three RAC centres is the three LGAs, demanded the provision of the original result sheets meant for the elections.

Wike said: “I am impressed with the security arrangement for the election.

“Most people have boycotted because of fake result sheets.

“I think that INEC is not prepared for the election. If they are not ready, they shouldn’t be telling people that they are ready.”
