The feud between former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi and his successor, Nyesome Wike may soon affect men and officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the state.

The anti-crime outfit has received a 30-day notice from the authorities of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, to vacate the offices it presently occupies.

The outfit which was given the building by former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, is said to have fallen out of favour with the Wike administration over the recent conduct some rerun elections in the state.

Reports say SARS was given from 19th of October till 30th of November to vacate their office which was originally built to be used as market but an office within was allocated to them due to the activities of criminal in the area.

The quit notice came to light following a letter signed by Obio-Akpor Local Government Council Legal Adviser, Victor Owhonda-Wokem, which stated that the notice was issued to enable the council carry out major renovation work on the market premises.

It read in part, “I am directed by the Local Government Council to give you one month notice to vacate and deliver possession of the premises/property of the Obio/Akpor International Market, which you presently occupy as a licensee thereof on or before 30th day of November, 2017.

“This directive is borne out of the council’s need to carry out major renovation works at the international market and to put the said property, which you occupy into full use and purpose for which it was originally acquired and built”.

However, Mr Akin Fakorede, the Commander of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, said the letter by the LG authority is misleading and warned the council against making false comments.

“I wish to respectively inform your good office that the Rivers State Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) is not in possession of occupation of any premises/property of Obio/Akpor Local Government”, he asserted.
