Rivers vendors lament dip in sales over election crisis

Published

on

NEWSPAPERS vendors in Rivers State have raised the alarm over negative effect of stalemated Rivers State governorship and state House of Assembly elections on sales.

Imoh Micah, Secretary, Newspaper Distributors Association of Nigeria, NDAN, Rivers chapter, told Vanguard in Port Harcourt, yesterday: “Anyone deluded that the avoidable crisis politicians have foisted on the elections in Rivers is promoting our sales is dead wrong.

“People, including many who buy papers are angry. Look at major Aba Road, blocked to traffic by security operatives to protect elections because of bad elections. “People are suffering, taking detours, so they are not stopping to check papers, but just pre-occupied with how to meander through the choking gridlocks.

“As I speak, all our vendors who sell papers between blocked Water Lines and Hotel Presidential returned to NDAN, yesterday, with their papers, complaining that people are not buying”.
