RMAFC may have abandoned pay cut for political office holders

Published

on

There are strong indications that the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission may have abandoned the downward review of salaries and remuneration of political office holders, which it recommended more than two years ago.

The downward review of remuneration of political office holders by the commission followed an outcry by members of the public for the cut of the perceived fat remuneration packages in the face of tumbling revenues generated by the country as a result of falling oil earnings.

Investigation by PUNCH correspondent showed that given the inflation rate in the country as well as the passage of more than two years after the report, which had yet to be laid before the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, the RMAFC might have tactically refrained from going ahead with its implementation.
