The Super Eagles have been faced recently with goalkeeping crisis, with the number one shot stopper, Carl Ikeme, currently out of play having been diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

Pending official announcement by the federation, Pionetti is expected to work with current Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu.

And his first assignment would be with the home-based Super Eagles who will take on Benin Republic in the first leg of the 2018 CHAN qualifier on August 13.
