Rohr's 28-man list for Poland, Serbia friendlies to be released March 7

The Algerian football federation have begun search for the replacement of Rabah Madjer as national team coach, and Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr, is one of those they are looking at.

Other coaches being considered, according to Algeria sports daily Le Buteur and quoted by Vanguard, include Christian Gourcuff, Vahid Halilhodzic, Hervé Renard, Carlos Queiroz, Alain Giresse.

Former footballer Madjer replaced Lucas Alcaraz as coach in October 2017 after the team had failed to qualify for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup as Rohr’s Eagles claimed the spot.

The Federation recently dismissed Madjer following a poor run of results that saw the national team lose to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Portugal in their last four friendlies.

But Rohr, former Burkina Faso manager, has a contract with Nigeria until 2020, but it is claimed that there is a clause allowing him to negotiate his departure after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Algeria are joint leaders in Group D of the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers with Benin Republic, while Gambia and Togo, without a point after the first round of matches, occupy third and fourth spots respectively.
