Rohr names final Super Eagles’ World Cup squad

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has named the squad to represent Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The list, which was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Sunday, is to meet FIFA’s deadline of June 4th for the submission of final squads by all participating countries.

The Super Eagles were defeated 2-1 in an international friendly against the Three Lions of England at Wembley on Saturday.

Out of the 25 players that made it to Wembley, two players were dropped – defender Ola Aina and midfielder Mikel Agu.

Crotone striker, Simeon Nwankwo, who only made his international debut with the team in last Monday’s friendly with DR Congo, was included in the squad.

Also included are the trio of Tyronne Ebuehi, Chidozie Awaziem and Bryan Idowu, amongst others.

The Super Eagles are now headed to Austria where they will camp for the final phase of their preparations ahead of the World Cup. While in Austria, they face Czech Republic in another friendly game on Wednesday.

The global showpiece finally kicks off on June 14, and the Eagles will begin their campaign against Croatia on June 16 before facing Iceland and Argentina in their other two group games.
